#TRUMP# TARIFFS – NEW OPPURTUNITIES FOR INDIA

Amid  a raging trade war between the United States and China, India can emerge as a net beneficiary  given its heightened economy and strategic importance for the United States as President Donald Trump tries to contain the rising theft of China. Neither of the two countries  is ready to blink, hinting at a prolonged tensions, the time span when India can ramp up its manufacturing to tap new export opportunities created by Trump tariffs.

INDIA has identified at least 10 sectors, including apparel and clothing, accessories, chemicals, plastics and rubber, where US tariff give New Delhi a competitive  advantage in the American market over other suppliers. The idea is to capitalise on the advantage in these sectors, which also includes vehicles, other than railways, mineral fuel and pharmaceuticals, in the coming months to compensate for loss in categories impacted by high tariffs.
