Since its inception in 2000, the Hornbill Festival has stood as Nagaland’s cultural heartbeat, showcasing the talent, traditions, and way of life of its 18 tribes. The 2025 edition stayed true to this legacy.
What a memorable experience at Nagaland’s iconic #HornbillFestival, where 🇨🇭 is honoured to be a country partner. I addressed the opening ceremony before 1000s of visitors, sharing my admiration for @MyGovNagaland rich traditions.

Each day unfolded like a living museum, where history was not displayed behind glass but lived, worn, sung, and danced. Traditional dances, folk songs, indigenous games, and crafts revealed stories passed down through generations.
At the heart of the festival stood the Morungs, the traditional communal homes of each tribe. Each Morung was distinct in design and symbolism, reflecting the unique identity of its people. These spaces became places of warmth and exchange rather than mere exhibits. Visitors were welcomed to sit alongside tribal elders and youth, share meals, listen to stories of ancestors and battles, and witness age-old customs come alive.
Proud to collaborate with @Mia_by_Tanishq as we honour music, creativity, and the spirit of womanhood. https://t.co/lkbTEr3ClS

Food played a central role in building connections. Traditional dishes were prepared openly, and visitors observed and learned about indigenous ingredients and cooking methods. Locally brewed rice beer, part of cultural rituals and hospitality, was shared in a spirit of storytelling and camaraderie, offering insight into social traditions rather than indulgence.
As dusk fell each evening, the festival grounds transformed into a pulsating music arena. Contemporary bands, folk fusion artists, and international performers filled the air with sound, proving that tradition and modern creativity could coexist seamlessly.
