Gen Z India : Rooted and Rising, Spiritual and Nationalist!!
How Indian youth balance faith, discipline, and modernity in a rapidly shifting world

Gen Z India : Rooted and Rising, Spiritual and Nationalist. Across the globe, Gen Z is often portrayed as restless, experimental, and digitally consumed. Yet in India, a strikingly different narrative is unfolding. The nation’s young generation is showing a meticulous commitment to spirituality, tradition, and religious values—often more pronounced than in neighbouring countries navigating similar transitions.
India’s Gen Z is emerging as a transformative force, blending innovation with values. Rooted in spirituality yet driven by modern aspirations, they are shaping social change, promoting inclusivity, and redefining nation-building.
Their meticulous approach and community spirit position them as architects of a balanced, purpose-driven future for India.
By Dr. Namrata Mishra, Editor, India Input.
The meticulousness of Indian youth is not confined to religious devotion but extends to personal discipline and purpose-driven living. In India, Generation Z includes individuals born roughly from the mid-to-late 1990s to the early 2010s, with the specific years 1997 to 2012 commonly cited for this demographic cohort. As of 2025, this places the age range of Gen Z in India from approximately 13 to 28 years old.

It’s not a song, it’s the pain of our brothers & sisters from Northeast. They’re hardcore proud Bharatiyas, but still majority people from Mainland forget that N-E even exists in Bharat. Do me a favour, never…. never mock them as Chinese or Nepalese. They get hurt beyond words. pic.twitter.com/SX4cRY6n2K

India, however, presents a unique balance—where young people are both entrepreneurial and spiritual, nationalistic yet globally connected. They aren’t passive consumers; they’re actively searching to discover, find information, and explore options.
