- Create deadly diseases or poisons
- Become smarter than humans
The existential threat, however, loomed largest. Hinton warned of creating digital beings smarter than humans, questioning our ability to maintain control. “We have no idea whether we can stay in control,” he stated, criticizing profit-driven companies for prioritizing gains over safety. He urged urgent research to prevent these entities from seeking dominance, emphasizing that such scenarios are “no longer science fiction.”
