Q. What inspired you to take up cricket, and how did your journey to the state level begin?

#Parth Rekhade -“My inspiration for cricket as a career started at a very recreational level where I used to relish playing it with my friends in the neighbourhood, I remember in the summer holidays when I was 9 years old my father put me in the Dr. Ambedkar College Sports Academy for the cricket summer camp. From there my journey started and it turned into a professional sport for me. I started representing both my school and the club which I played for and through consistent performances made it to the VCA U-13 probables from where my state journey began.”

Q. What has been the biggest challenge in your cricketing career so far, and how did you overcome it?

#Parth Rekhade -“The biggest challenges I personally have faced are the injuries that were a hindrance to me at crucial occasions when I was representing the country in Asia Cup and when I was representing the state team in the national elite competition held by the BCCI. Both the setbacks shattered me but the self belief and love for the sport helped me relentlessly work hard and make a comeback.”

Q. How do you prepare yourself mentally and physically before an important match?

#Parth Rekhade – “The plan is to always keep it simple sticking to my strengths being calm and relaxed having a good recovery to conserve energy for the match. And most importantly having a positive mindset which happens with a bit of self talk and meditation.”

Q. Where do you see yourself in the next few years — any dreams of playing for India or in major leagues?

#Parth Rekhade – “I definitely see myself knocking the international door with consistent performances in the national tournaments in which I represent for the Vidarbha Cricket Association.
