#Startup Mela : Nagpur’s own Startup Conclave is here..! The Vidarbha Economic Development (VED) Council is marking its 30th Anniversary by launching a landmark event: the Viksit Bharat Nagpur Startup Conclave. Scheduled for April 10th and 11th, 2026, at the RTMNU Campus, this initiative has a strong collaborative effort between VED, Lemon Ideas, RTMNU, and Vidarbha Infotech.
In line with GoI’s #StartupIndia, this initiative is being viewed as an open invitation to the public, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs to witness the ideas shaping India’s tomorrow and contribute to the industrial transformation of the Vidarbha region.
A Launchpad for Innovation
Not just a strategic leap toward a future driven by innovation, this conclave appears a strong willed step towards positioning Nagpur in India’s entrepreneurial future.. A major highlight of the two-day event is the Grand Finale of the Innopreneurs Global Startup Contest (Season 12).

This competition brings together over 40 top-tier startups and junior innovators from across the country to pitch their ideas. By hosting these brilliant minds, the organizers aim to transform the RTMNU campus into a genuine launchpad for the entrepreneurs who will drive India’s future.
“Job Givers not just Job Seekers”
The philosophy behind this initiative is a shift in the regional economic mindset. Ms. Rina Sinha, President of the VED Council, emphasizes that the vision is to empower youth to become “job givers” rather than just “job seekers”.

Deepak Menaria, Founder & CEO of Lemon Ideas, notes that the conclave seeks to solve the “problems of Bharat” using tech for good and sustainability as core motives.

Highlighting the Nagpur University (RTMNU) campus as a launchpad for innovators Dr. Manali Kshirsagar (Vice Chancellor, RTMNU) has announced the Nagpur Best Startup Award to further encourage local talent, by the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
Mr. Deepak Menaria (Founder & CEO, Lemon Ideas) has described the event as a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit, marking the grand finale of the Innopreneurs Global Startup Contest (Season 12). The focus remains on “Tech for good” and sustainability.
Prashant Ugemuge (Managing Director, VIPL) sought to reaffirm that VIPL is honored to support the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Ms. Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur, is scheduled to inaugurate the startup event expo and attend the Junior Innopreneurs event on the morning of April 11th.
The valedictory ceremony on the evening of the 11th will feature Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, Minister of State, as the Chief Guest, alongside Guest of Honor Dr. Vipin Itankar, the NMC Commissioner.
VED Council eyes another Milestone
The Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED) is a non profit organization that was established in 1994 and is recognized as a strong voice for the economic empowerment of the Vidarbha region, which was till recently considered economically backward, in the east Maharashtra.
The Council that is often credited for milestone projects like MIHAN SEZ and continues to work as a bridge between various stakeholders, industry leaders and the governments in the state as well as Center to conceptualize and promote various initiatives in diverse sectors like tourism, agriculture to industries and technologies, while striving to attract investment opportunities.
Having inked MOUs with key institutions like Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) and Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) aiming to foster Innovation and Skill development, VED Council, under the current leadership by President Rina Sinha and team, has its vision set for overall growth in regional Start up ecosystem.
