#Trump’s Tariffs? India’s Answer : 40-Nation Trade Blitz!!The recent announcement of a 50% tariff by former U.S. President Donald Trump on select imports has caused ripples across global trade circles. However, India remains unshaken. With a diversified export portfolio and proactive government measures, the impact of these tariffs is expected to be limited.

According to senior officials, India’s exports to the U.S. are spread across a wide range of sectors—IT services, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and agricultural products—making the country less vulnerable to shocks in any single segment. “Our export base is robust, and we are not overly dependent on one market or one product line,” a commerce ministry source stated.

To further cushion potential fallout, the Indian government is rolling out a comprehensive outreach programme targeting 40 nations, including emerging markets in Latin America, Africa,  UK, Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Belgium, Turkiye, the United Arab of Emirates and Australia. and South East Asia.

“In each of these 40 markets, this is proposed to pursue a targeted approach, positioning itself as a reliable supplier of quality, sustainable, and innovative textile products with the lead role of the Indian industry, including EPCs, and Indian mission in these countries” stated commerce ministry of India.

This strategic diversification aims to reduce reliance on traditional markets while tapping into high-growth economies. Trade delegations, sector-specific promotional campaigns, and incentives for exporters are part of this initiative.

Every single American, whether a state legislator or a businessman, wishes they could apologize to India for the behavior of Donald Trump. Donald Trump is wrong in his targeting of India, especially since the United States buys strategic minerals, including uranium hexafluoride, from Russia. There’s also a hypocrisy in the U.S. promoting Azerbaijani gas as an alternative to Russian and Iranian sources when much of the gas in Azerbaijan’s pipelines is, in fact, Russian or Iranian.

The speaker emphasizes that India is correct in its stance and that Prime Minister Modi’s defense of India’s rights will be remembered by historians as the moment the U.S. learned it could not “kick India around.” He quotes Winston Churchill, who said that Americans “always do the right thing, they just try everything else first.” The speaker believes that once this episode passes, U.S.-India relations will improve because the U.S. will learn to respect India and not take it for granted.
