We Are One Nation India is a mosaic of ethnicities. A person from Mizoram or Arunachal Pradesh is as Indian as someone from Maharashtra or Punjab. Using racial slurs is an attempt to “other” our own people, stripping them of their identity and belonging. When we allow words like Chinki to be used under the guise of humor or “banter,” we validate the prejudice that eventually leads to violence.
