Sumati Singh : A Life Remembered, A Legacy Forever Loved !!
Celebrating a journey marked by grace, compassion, and unwavering resolve.
Sumati Singh : A Life Remembered, A Legacy Forever Loved. Smt. Sumati Singh (1922–2020) lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment to her values. Born into a respected and influential family as the granddaughter of Maharaja Chhedi Singh, she grew up in an environment rooted in service, dignity, and a strong sense of purpose. Married to Babu Guptnath Singh at the young age of 15, she embraced her responsibilities with remarkable maturity, eventually raising seven children with love and dedication.

Her life unfolded during some of India’s most defining years. Influenced by the rising spirit of nationalism, she actively supported the Swadeshi Movement, publicly burning foreign-made clothes with her husband and proudly choosing to wear Khadi for the rest of her life. Her involvement reflected a deeply personal commitment to India’s independence struggle and the values of self-reliance championed by Mahatma Gandhi.
She also participated in the nationwide awakening sparked by the Dandi March and Namak Satyagraha, moments that transformed the freedom movement into a mass civil disobedience effort. Her quiet courage during these times remains a powerful reminder of the role ordinary citizens played in shaping the destiny of a nation.
Smt. Sumati Singh’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the values she embodied!
Alongside her patriotic spirit, Smt. Sumati Singh was a woman of intellect and discipline. She completed her Graduation in Hindi from Allahabad University, earning a Gold Medal for her academic excellence. Her command over Hindi and Mathematics, paired with her ability to speak gracefully and persuasively, made her a respected voice in every community she lived in.
As a mother, she built a home filled with warmth, emotional security, and encouragement. She ensured every child received education and values that shaped their character. Her gentle nature, balanced with an inner firmness, became the foundation for her children’s confidence and resilience.
Her life took her across cities such as Banaras, Kutchh, Delhi, Kanpur, Bangalore, Dhanbad, Bhabhua, and Kusahee—but wherever she went, she carried her grace, wisdom, and quiet resolve.
