Here are excerpts from the conversations with Miss Srimoyee Sengupta, sharing how she balanced her preparation, her hobby, and how effective time management helped her excel in both academics and her passion.
Q. : Which study technique or habit contributed the most to your high score?
Srimoyee: Instead of just memorizing, I really focused on understanding the concepts. I also built strong paper-solving skills by tackling the tough, long-answer questions first. That gave me the time I needed to secure marks on the rest of the paper.
Q. : What was the biggest challenge you faced during preparation, and how did you overcome it?
Srimoyee: During my preparation, I did face a lot of procrastination and distractions. Sometimes, I got caught up in my smartphone or just put off tasks, and that really held me back at times.
Q . Who was your biggest mentor, and what advice from them helped you succeed?
Srimoyee: My biggest mentors have definitely been my parents. They were always there guiding me. The best advice they gave me was to focus on quality study instead of just long hours—so I made sure to prioritize deep, effective learning.
Q .Which hobby did you continue during your preparation, and how did it help you stay relaxed and focused?
Srimoyee : I continued dance and painting classes during my preparation. I’m a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. I also appeared for official examinations in painting as well as dance during my 10th grade. This really helped me stay balanced, manage stress, and keep my focus sharp as I worked toward my goals.
Q: How did you balance studies, school, tuition, and personal time effectively?
Srimoyee : I made sure to maintain a strict study schedule, prioritizing my academics, but I also gave time to my interests—like reading and participating in extracurricular activities and competitions—so that I stayed motivated and balanced.
Srimoyee Sengupta sums up with last top three tips, for the 10th board exams for inspiring juniors:
1. Don’t take too much stress—remember, 10th is important, but it’s not rocket science.
2. Focusing on time management, because it’s essential during exams.
3. Keeping a consistent approach—stay regular with your studies, but also make sure you give yourself breaks, so you don’t get lost in the process.
A few minutes spent doing something you love can refresh your mind, reduce stress, and improve focus when you return to your studies. Great achievers across the world have shown that excellence comes from balance, not burnout.
A student who learns to manage both studies and personal passions develops creativity, resilience, discipline, and emotional strength—qualities that no exam alone can measure.
