Many Forms, One Celebration
Onapattu encompasses several folk traditions. Mavelipattu celebrates Mahabali and his legendary kingdom.
Vanchipattu, the energetic boat songs of Kerala, traditionally help synchronize rowers during boat races. Oonjal Pattu accompanies swing celebrations, while songs associated with Thumbi Thullal provide rhythm for traditional women’s folk performances.
